Baby Safety Banisters

Does your house have an open stairway? If it does, and you have a toddler or a baby who's mobile, you might need a baby safety banisters guard.

Why Baby Safety Banisters Guards are Helpful

Oftentimes the space between banisters is just wide enough for a baby or toddler's head to get stuck in. At the very least, they could drop a toy down and try to go down the stairs to retrieve it. But a baby safety banisters guard can prevent all that from happening. These baby safety devices are simply clear plastic shields you can attach in front of your banisters to keep anything (children, pets, toys) from getting in between them. They also keep kids from climbing on the banisters.

In addition to having these banister guards, it's a good idea to have baby safety gates at the top and bottom of a staircase. You might also want to put up safety gates to block off rooms without doors that you don't want your baby to get into (like the kitchen). It's best to always use safety gates that can be securely mounted to the wall and have a locking handle that can be operated with one hand instead of using pressure gates. (Pressure mounted safety gates enable you to put up an effective barrier without drilling holes into the wall, but they can become loose over time.)

Staircases are an area of your house you don't want to neglect when it comes to baby safety. You may have already thought of the safety gates, you you might not have thought about the kind to get. And you might not have thought about the space between banisters being a danger either. But now you know.
