Finding a good preschool is important to most parents. They want one that will teach their children a lot and provide good care. Safety is often taken for granted. But it shouldn't be.

Easier than Ever

These days, finding safe preschools is easier than ever. Follow these guidelines when it comes to choosing a preschool to ensure maximum safety for your child:

Ask what the preschool's policies are when someone other than a parent is picking your child up from school. The more stringent the better. The preschool should have a list of approved adults for your child, and they should require ID from them each time they come to pick your child up. In addition, if the parent didn't specify that one of the approved adults would be picking the child up, make sure the preschool knows to call you. It could be an oversight on the part of a parent, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Anyone can just walk in to most child care centers, but a safe preschool has codes the parents must type in to even get inside the front doors. (This is rare, but definitely the mark of a safe preschool.)
Beyond keeping your children safe from predators, make sure the playground equipment is in good condition and has plenty of shock-absorbing material under it. (Ten to 12 inches of mulch or shredded tires is best.)

Obviously, you want to make sure the preschool you choose is licensed. Cleanliness is also important. You don't want your child to come home sick because of all the germs he picked up at an unclean facility.
