Child Safety Tip

Child safety tip #1 for those who have pools in their backyards - pool fences should completely surround your pool, and in some places this child safety tip is mandatory.

Child Safety Tip

This is for all of you out there that are lucky enough to have a pool right in your own backyard. As you know, if you have children living in the home child safety tips around the pool have come in very handy. As parents we have to pay special attention to the dangers that a pool can present to the smallest members of the family who are particularly susceptible to drowning. Many children die each year as a result of drowning and many more that have been through near-drowning incidents survive with sever brain damage. But, most of these tragedies could have been prevented if we had paid closer attention to a child safety tip or two.

Heed This Child Safety Tip

The most important child safety tip is this - never take your eyes off of the children when they are near the pool area! Studies suggest that it only takes a split second for a child to fall into the water and only another couple before the brain is effected by the lack of oxygen. Even if you are having a party or a get-together with friends or family and there seems to be many people around, someone should still always have their eyes on the children. In addition to that there should also be a clear sign placed somewhere around the pool that lists all of the child safety/pool safety rules for your home. And make sure that those rules are always enforced to the letter. This works better than any child safety product ever could.

Beside this you should also have a few of the most important and life-saving child safety products. First of all you should have your entire pool area completely surrounded by a good pool fence. If you have just bought a home or are putting up a fence for the first time, check with the local authorities before you but in order to find out any specific regulations that your town or city might have. Many places are very strict when it comes to pool fences and they will often times give tickets to people who have not properly installed their fence or who do not have the proper fence. Checking first can save you a lot of time and money - and you can also get a few more tips from them!
