	<title>Prenatal Care</title>
	<description>
Prenatal Care and the Health of the Mother
In order to take good care of the baby growing inside you and ensure his/her proper prenatal development , you must also take very good care of yourself. Whatever you put into your body will also be passed on to the fetus. You are now essentially looking after two bodies and one that is growing at a very quick pace. Eating enough of the food that both you and baby need is the first step in proper prenatal care. An expectant mother should steer clear of junk food full of empty calories and try to concentrate on eating those things that will help her body stay in peak physical condition. Regularly taking good prenatal vitamins is recommended to make up for any deficiency that might exist.Pregnant women can of course expect to gain weight, but it best for you both to keep it down to that associated with the pregnancy and not as a result of those empty calories.

Keeping Up Your Exercise Routine
If you did not get much exercise before the pregnancy, this might be the perfect time to start. Your body will greatly benefit from any added strength, especially when it comes time to give birth. Exercising during pregnancy will also help you to fight some of the nausea associated with the first term of pregnancy and the fatigue that often times comes with the last term. Prenatal yoga is a wonderful option as it will give you added strength and flexibility without putting too much pressure on your body. And don't forget that soon you will be chasing after that little bundle of joy, and it couldn't hurt to be in good shape for that either. Exercise is another form of prenatal care that you must initiate yourself. Ask your doctor for some guidelines to make sure that you do not overdue it. But, most women are actually quite surprised by the amount of physical activity that can be performed during pregnancy. As long as you are in good physical shape otherwise, your doctor will probably encourage you to keep fit as any prenatal testing being done will point to risk factors.

You can also check into the classes that are offered in your area. There are more and more now that are specifically designed for pregnant women and take prenatal safety into account. They can be a great excuse to get out of the house and the regular routine as well as a nice meeting spot to chat with other women in the same boat.
